Being able to change your makeup looks for different occasions is always fun, whether you stick on some lashes or add some liner on your waterline.
When I go out during the day, I usually keep my eye makeup to the minimum, usually just wearing some mascara. Compared to a night out or going out for dinner, I love playing around with my makeup and creating looks that I can document. Having natural eye makeup is the way to go, especially during summer months, otherwise you will just sweat it all off!
This post is a guide on how to get a glam look from something minimalistic, or even starting with no makeup on at all. Let's start with eyeshadow, I personally go for a smoky eye and create a light to dark contrast using brown colours. You may prefer to
create a rainbow on your eye with different colours that pop. For more subtle neutral tones like what I use, I recommend using a Morphe palette. There are so many different palettes to explore, my go to is the Morphe 35T palette. It includes mattes and shimmers so you can create a whole look with just one palette. Anytime I am travelling I always take it with me, as it is light and easy to use. It is definitely a palette I recommend for beginners and only costs £24. If you want to go big and wear some colour, Jeffree Star palettes always have some fun and funky colours to try, ranging from electric yellow to hot pink. My personal favourites are the Blood Sugar palette and the Conspiracy
palette. They are both £40 but include so many colours and are really pigmented and good quality shadows.
Adding eyeliner to a look can create an illusion that makes your eyes look bigger and bolder. When starting out with liner, simply having a small flick and a line across your lash line is a start, and you can build this up as you practice your liner. I love a cat eye, whenever Ii go out, I always have a thick flick of liner that finishes off my eye look perfectly. I think eye liner can change the way a whole eye makeup look appears. I use two liners that never fail me, if you are looking for an affordable option, Collection Extreme Felt Tip Liner is the way to go, only being £3.49. Using a felt tip liner is also much easier to apply than if you were to use a gel liner and brush which is a lot more tedious and easier to mess up. A more expensive product, if you are willing to spend a bit more, is the Dior On Show Liner for £29. It is expensive, but worth it.
For eyelashes, if you want to use them, you can get different lengths and thicknesses to suit your eye shape. I prefer a bolder thicker lash as it really pulls the eye makeup together and makes your eyes pop. When it comes to different brands of lashes, they can be quite expensive, even for one pair of lashes. I use any brand that is affordable, usually Superdrug's own lashes as they are still amazing quality but half the price! Make sure to buy glue as well otherwise you won't be able to wear them. When it comes to eyelashes, make sure to cut them down, starting from the outer side, so they fit your lash line, otherwise they will be too long for your eye shape!
